Thomas L. Howard was appointed to the Jupiter Inlet District Commission by Governor Bob Martinez in 1988 and has been re-elected ever since, serving in the District 2 seat.  Mr. Howard's guiding principles are: be mindful that we are spending taxpayer dollars and do something to enhance the environment in a way that lasts longer than oneself.

A member in good standing of the Florida Bar, Mr. Howard is the principal of Thomas L. Howard, P.A.  After attending Jupiter High School with his wife of 40 years, Jeanne DeHayes Howard, both obtained their undergraduate degrees at the University of Florida before going on to earn their Juris Doctorate degrees at the University of Florida and Nova Southeastern University, respectively.  

Mr. Howard is a member of the United States District Court, Southern District of Florida, and has served as a long-time member of the Loxahatchee River Management Coordinating Council, including in leadership roles as Chair and Vice Chair for numerous years.  He is also a member and past president of the Jupiter Tequesta Rotary Club.  Actively engaged in community service, Mr. Howard has been a member of the Board of Directors and pro bono attorney since 1990 for The Thelma B. Pittman Jupiter Pre-School, a non-profit organization providing low-cost early childhood education.

Mr. Howard resides in northern Palm Beach County with his wife, Jeanne DeHayes Howard.  Tom and Jeanne have one son, Matthew, who is married with two children and graduated from the University of Florida and University of Central Florida with degrees in computer and electrical engineering.  

Tom has been a resident of Jupiter-Tequesta since 1963 and enjoys spending time with family, riding bicycles and fishing.
